From the 8th to the 11th of November CER exhibited at ECOMONDO, the key event in Europe for the circular economy, industrial and technological innovation, and ecological transition.

CER’s participation in the 25th edition of the fair was very fruitful and a complete success. Our team had the opportunity to meet representatives from great companies with a big potential for future cooperation.

Waste to Energy Cogeneration Plant – Ventspils, Latvia

The one of a kind WtE plant is an example of the integrated approach to waste management and has the capacity to process cup to 15,000 tons of SRF ( Solid Refused Fuel) per year.

The facility was designed to convert SRF into renewable heat for district heating and power for the local community or other purposes. 

Designing and construction of the plant officially started in 2022, and the execution time will be 20 months.

MónNatura Pirineus, a bioclimatic and sustainable establishment

The Group CER Termosun recently made an interesting project with the company CERVÓS GROUP, dedicated to reforming buildings with the aim of enhancing the energy efficiency of the buildings. For this project, the group CER Termosun supplied a biomass boiler HERZ Firematic of 200 kW of power for the bioclimatic establishment MónNatura Pirineus.

This nature center, opened in 2002, it is part of the Catalan foundation La Pedrera and it is situated in the municipality Son, in the Valle de Aneu. The centre, of an area of more than 3000 m2, offers accommodation and activities related to nature and its aim it to make known the environmental value of the Pyrenees to the general public.

With the installation of a biomass boiler, the center of Mon Natura Pirineus is adopting a sustainable way of producing energy, and uses as much as three different sources of renewable energy.  Apart from the woodchip from local forests, the building uses the solar energy and thermal energy.

District Heating with biomass in the city of Granollers

The Municipality of Granollers (Barcelona) has completed the installation project of the District Heating for supplying seven different public centres with energy from biomass. They include the local publisher, the Artists and Culture centre, the primary school, among others.

The project, carried out by the company Energroup, consisted in the substitution of the former individual installations running on natural gas with two biomass boilers HERZ firematic 501, supplied by the CER Termosun group with a total power of 1000 kW. The new district heating system will reduce the emissions of CO2 to 134,4 tonnes a year and will save the municipality 28.042 euros, according to calculations.

For the supply of the woodchip to the thermal power plant there will be used a dump truck or a truck with a moving base through a double vertical filling system installed in the exterior, that allows for an optimal and fast filling.

Infrastructure project for satisfying water demand

“The construction of the underground pumping station Gorica and its connection to the island Pag water supply system” is another infrastructure project for which CER offered consulting services based on its wide expertise in the public infrastructure sector.

The 1.408.800,00 kuna worth project will be significant for local residents since it will secure the necessary drinking water in the summer months when there is a higher demand for drinking water. The higher water supply will be possible given the technical characteristics of the new pumping station which are as follows:

CER, in partnership with another engineering company, prepared the whole project proposal.

Distric heating with biomass for 9 buildings in Mollet del Vallès

In the village of Mollet del Vallès (Barcelona) the CER Termosun group has carried out the installation of a district heating network with biomass for providing sanitary hot water and heating to nine buildings that belong to the Institute for public stability of Catalunya (ISPC).

This new automatic and highly efficient thermal power plant has been installed by Sacyr Facilities and the HERZ firematic 501 biomass boilers were provided by the CER Termosun group. This network will have a 1000 kW power capacity and as fuel it will use woodchip. The woodchip will be transported through a vertical silo and a dump truck outside the thermal plant that allow for an optimal filling.

This project contributes to the lowering of CO2, to the efficient management of energy at all times and, in direct connection to that, to have significant savings.

Among CER’s most important infrastructure projects

“Equipping the access roads to the Pelješac bridge, the Stone bypass and the sub-section Duboka-Sparagovići/Zaradeže-Prapratno-Doli” is among CER’s most significant infrastructure projects to date. The project contractor is the Croatian national road company Hrvatske Ceste d.o.o.

This international public procurement project is part of a strategic project for Croatia – the realization of the Pelješac bridge, that will strengthen the connection of southern Croatia to the rest of the land. The bridge and its connecting roads will increase the traffic system security level and its level of service, shorten the travel time, thus reducing emissions and the overall impact on the environment. Furthermore, it will make possible to access the southernmost part of the country even in time of strong winds, when the road and sea traffic are normally disrupted.

Its realization is planned to be over in 2022 and when finished it will consist of a total of 32,53 kilometres of road with the accompanying facilities – viaducts, bridges, tunnels, underpasses, reservoirs and rest areas.

CER offered engineering, consultant, administrative services to the project bidder – COMSA Industrial, a Spanish global group focused on infrastructure development, industrial engineering and services.

District heating with biomass in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz

The city of Vitoria-Gasteiz is part of the European project SmartEnCity, aimed at developing the  European strategy for the creation of intelligent cities free of CO2. In the case of this Basque city, the project has been realized through the energy rehabilitation of the Coronación district, determined to be the one most in need from the social perspective, as well as from the habitability, accessibility and energy efficiency perspectives.

The company Veolia is the one who has been in charge of the installation of the district heating network and the CER Termosun group supplied two biomass boilers HERZ firematic 501 with a total power of 1.000 kW.

These boilers are equipped with the latest technology of particles filtering. They have built-in electrostatic filters that reduce to the maximum the particles emission. The special vertical transport system for bio fuel (pellets) designed for the plant allows the supply of both boilers from the undergounds silos where the fuel is stored.

The energy rehabilitation project will lower the energy demand and replace the fossil fuels with renewable fuels, improve the habitability and the comfort of the homes, and lower the electricity and hot water bills.

Biomass boiler in the primary school Àngel Guimerà de Pallejà in Barcelona

With the aim to improve the energy efficiency of the educational center Àngel Guimerà in the town of Pallejà (Bajo Llobregat), the group CER Termosun has supplied a new biomass boiler HERZ firematic with a capacity of 100 kW.

This biomass boiler substitutes two existing gas boilers of 183 and 59 kW, that up until now have supplied the school with hot water and heating. Besides optimizing the energy efficiency of the installations, the use of local woodchip as biofuel makes the best use of the wood residues from the forest management and helps with forest regeneration.

The room of the boiler has been placed inside a prefabricated module next to the fuel silo that has a capacity of approximately 55 m3 of woodchip. The module had previously been used as a maritime ship container, and now perfectly serves its new purpose.

Beginning of works on the new civil engineering project in Metković

The works related to the 338.001.831,78 kuna worth civil project “Construction of the water sewage system of the Metković agglomeration and the reconstruction of the water supply network” have officially begun.

CER, which was the consultant to the company COMSA S.A. for the preparation and analysis of the public procurement and prepared the offer that eventually won the public tender has signed the partnership contract with COMSA.

CER actively participates in the carrying out of this important project which at the moment is one of the biggest in the Dubrovnik-neretva region.

The works have begun in May and are in full flow at the moment. All has begun in Splitska street on the new access track of the road. Immediately after that, the pipeline is going to be laid down, and the preparation works are being carried out for the protection of pumping station pits. For the next months the excavation works for three more locations are being planned.

By the end of the project, there are planned to be:

  • 1745 new household connections, and 2326 existing ports’ new connections to the drainage network
  • New connections of 1340 households’ ports to the water supply system
  • Design and construction of the sewage sludge treatment plant in Metković and the solar sludge drying plant

The project has a historic importance for the local people of Metković because thanks to it every household will have access to the sewage system and a better water supply.
